OUR STORY

Mimi Palmer
CEO / Founder
Mama Yaya's

Mama Yaya's began in 2017 in Atlanta, GA, when CEO/Founder Mimi Palmer was unemployed and seeking ways to generate income over the holiday season. Her joy of cooking and making desserts led her to make Peach and Blackberry Cobblers, Lemon cakes from scratch, and banana pudding our of her home to sell. She was challenge by a colleague to produce a Lavender and Key Lime Banana Pudding to accompany the Lavender lemonades her colleague produced and sold. Mimi accepted the challenge and produced both the Lavender and Key Lime Banana Puddings in addition to the development of Mama Yaya's, and many other delicious flavors.

As a little girl, Mimi spent time in the kitchen with her Mother Shirley and Grandmother Mildred in Queens, New York watching and helping them prepare meals and desserts for the family especially during the holiday seasons. She also spent many summers in Big Piney Grove, NC with her Great Aunt Hanna learning how to make cobblers and cakes from scratch. She learned from all three women how to take her time and pour love into every meal and dessert she prepared. She is grateful for the ability to create desserts that make people happy, smile, sing, and dance in their seats while eating.

Mama Yaya's gives back to the community through a portion of the proceeds going to the Darious J White Memorial Foundation serving high school and college students with financial assistance through scholarship funding for books, housing, and tuition. In addition, volunteering with the Girls Who Brunch Tour and the National Black MBA Leaders of Tomorrow Atlanta Chapter in Atlanta, GA.
